Schizonepeta tenuifolia
(Herba seu Flos Schzonepetae Tenuifoliae, Jing Jie)

Schizonepeta is an herb famous for relieving itching in all kinds of disorders, particularly in allergic rhinitis. It helps stop the itching in the nose, palate and throat. It’s potency as an anti-itch ingredient is so strong that it is commonly used in measles formulas. Scientific research indicates that Schizonepeta inhibits formation of Substance P, a chemical that is responsible for stimulating a scratch-itch response. It also inhibits histamine release.

Physiological effect: acts as diaphoretic and increases circulation in the subcutaneous areas.

Antiphlogistic effect – stimulates the degradation and absorption of diseased tissue of the skin.
