Gastrodia Elatae, Tian Ma)
Gastrodia elata is an expensive,
but invaluable herb that is used in formulations for a wide
variety of conditions. In support of treating allergies,
the herb alleviates headaches and general fatigue. It is
helpful in clearing the heavy, congested feeling in the head
described as the brain fog that accompanies allergies. In
modern use, it treats neurasthenia – weakness, nervous
exhaustion and difficulty concentrating.
Gastrodia is found in formulas
for relieving the main symptoms of hypertension – headache
and dizziness. It is also widely studied in formulations
for all types of convulsions, including those that occur
with tetanus, epilepsy, stroke, and headaches. Finally, modern
